ABOUT ABOUT

Come watch an International selection of one dozen short films at the 2018 Short Film Slam: Round V Championship Finals. Attendees get to cast a vote for their favorite films among a mix of genres during this tournament style showcase presented by The Madlab Post.

From the startling family dynamics in Tyler Yarbro's dark comedy A Christmas Dinner to Iranian director Saman Hosseinpuor's technology drama The Last Embrace, the complexities of humanity unfold through stories about huge sacrifices made in the quest for truth, compassion and a better tomorrow.

Join us in celebrating our "Movie of the Month" Award recipients including Baltimore director Ladarris “Quik” Boykin, whose film Still Waters depicts the struggles of people affected by traumatic experiences. Harvard University graduate Claudia Stack will also be recognized for her documentary Sharecrop: Delta Cotton, in which Mississippi plantation farmer Sylvester Hoover reflects on his upbringing, the peonage system and blues music.

Our Round V lineup also features Italian director Valentina Casadei's romantic drama Blessed Days, and New York filmmaker Tanya Huston's comedy Reality Check, alongside Emmett Loverde's romantic comedy Good Business Sense. Spain also solidified its position in this year's Championship Finals with the housing crisis drama AINHOA directed by Iván Sáinz-Pardo's and the neurotic comedy TRIBU from director Sergi Merchan.
